My gf put a password on a US laptop with an umlaut (german character) in it, and now she cannot login to the laptop as the language on the keyboard reverted to English. Anyone know how we can get around this issue. No, she did not have a password resent disk.
    Thanks!

Hello Totenstill and Welcome to CHF,

Unfortunately since we have no way of verifying the actual owner of the laptop we are unable
to provide you with any password assistance. Please see password issues under The Rules.

Virtual keyboard? I am not sure what you are using? As allheart55 has said we cannot give password assistance but if we can help you with the keyboard language which will enable you to input a known password that may be a different story. Normally the language is set in windows itself. There are codes using the CTR or Alt key that will allow you to insert an umlaut in a word but that varies by the
letter. You can google inserting an umlaut and get the code for the specific letter.

What I do not know is if that will work when entering a password.

    BeeCeeBee, You Are God.
I cannot believe I forgot those ctrl codes. I've used them a thousand times prior to this issue. Worked like a charm.
    Thanks!
