Well so much for we have made great progress with Windows version Upgrades. What a big piece of crap this thing is. Right click functions disappeared altogether left click on desktop and screens start flying everywhere, what the Hell were they thinking. The new start menu is huge and scrolls forever. They just turned the Metro screen vertical and squashed it into the Start Menu. IK had enough I went back to Windows 8.1 which BTW took about 3 minutes, 45 minutes to upgrade. This is a joke and I will not recommend the upgrade to any clients for sure. I was going to do the upgrade and then clean install afterwards but I need to see how this thing is really supposed to look before I do anything and I think I will take a break of a few weeks before visiting this again!

    Hi Rich.
It is not Windows10. It is your computer in my opinion.
I had a dream install and everything is working fantastic.
    Smooth, stable and fast.
Can't find one issue you are talking about.
Read some are having issues leaving security software on while upgrading.ESET was mentioned.
My computer is running so well I am not going to be bothered with a clean install although I burnt the ISO.
Each time I boot the computer it seems to get quicker and quicker.
Try on another computer, Rich and see if you get the same issues.

Could be though the things I have complained about with this thing are paled to what happened in 10.
I will wait a while and try a clean install. I really have no faith in Upgrades of OS anyway.

I don't like upgrades either, however this one worked for me.
I agree in your case a clean install would be the best option.

I also read some are having issues with their WIFI on some laptops.
Some have resorted to Dongles till they can find a driver.

I am going to upgrade 3 more computers later today.
Hope I haven't spoke too soon.:)

Which computer did you upgrade, Rich? The Dell All In One?
I'm not having any of those problems either.

I did the upgrade on a Windows 7 computer on Wednesday and it's been running great.
I plan on doing a clean install on the same computer this weekend.

My desktop was saying that all would be OK and Windows 10 could be installed. That is till this morning and now found this.

How many other computers running N.Vidia are going to have this? I looked up drivers and found the most recent was built and is installed from 2010, so no point looking for fresh drivers. I believe others have had problems with N.Vidia too.

I have now installed Windows10 on 3 computers running Nvidia drivers and no issue whatsoever.
If you have half decent hardware you won't have any issues.

Being that the graphics is on the motherboard, to improve things and maybe get round this problem would mean getting a graphics card.
However I am not that bothered at the moment as I have no intention of installing Windows 10 on the main desktop till I have got it on the laptop and been able to try it out for myself on that.
Hopefully NVidia just might have got their act into gear and rolled out a new driver by the time I am interested, or not interested in Windows 10, whatever the case may be.

Yes Cindy the 2300 Dell All-in-One. In thinking about what happened the install went ok. I was trying to get that stupid search bar out of the quick launch area so I could get my quick launch back when I lost right click, task bar turned black and all kinds of windows were popping up. Then screen turned black and Control panel would not open so I had no way back. That is when I decided to roll back to 8.1. I'll try again tonight and this time try to remove the search bar in Programs & Features because if that stays there I will put 7 on this Dell and be done with it. I can see how unstable this OS really is because what I was doing should not have made it warp out.

I would definitely think twice before I upgraded an unstable computer. You already know that it won't end well.

You said the computer was unstable, Rich so I agree it will be a useless exercise.
I am finding Windows 10 quite stable.

There is only one program that won't migrate to Windows10 and that is "Speccy" on any computer.
No big deal I just reinstalled again and Speccy works fine.

I haven't had any issues so far. One issue was an old game from 2001. For some reason it didn't like the disk version of the game but the STEAM version runs perfectly. Office 2013 runs good too.

After a quick search of the NVidia site and forum, it would seem that although my desktop is only five years in my possession from new, the actual chipset is over ten years old and obsolete. Strangely enough having looked it up, I did get a new driver install for it in late January this year as a part of a normal Windows updates. However there may not be a Windows 10 driver available from NVidia due to the age and obsolete category. There is though a work round of installing the Windows 8.1 driver which will work though poorly.
More info on the NVidia forum here :-

    https://forums.geforce.com/default/...6150se-nforce430-windows-10-display-driver/1/

I think perhaps my best bet is going to be a cheap Windows 10 ready PCIe graphics card when and if I decide to install Windows 10 on the desktop.

The laptop appears to be OK as the graphics on that are ATI mobility Radeon HD 4500 series.

Edit to add, it looks like you posted while I was writing Starbuck, though it seems we both had the same idea of searching the NVidia forums.

Nev I am using an Nvidia card I just bight at Best Buy here in Minnesota. They priced matched Newegg it's an eVGA GTX 960. I am not having any issues at all. I would venture to guess it's the older 6150 onboard NVidia driver but there is usually a workaround -- sort of. I have yet to find anything I cannot work around tech/hardware wise. I will try to find out what we can do about it if anything. I just went to the NVidia site and for your chipset support ended at Windows Vista but I noticed when I went to motherboard manufacturer's sites there are Win 8 drivers. Let me check a few things out I will be back.

At a glance here is what I would try. This driver here

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/win8-64bit-302.80-preview-driver.html

If you notice in the notes GF 430/6150 is covered. Use driver cleaner or DDU to after manually uninstalling your drivers to clean out any driver remnants You can get it here.

    http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

    * Then here is the procedure I would use to install the new driver. If it works for you I think you would be the 1st one anywhere to get that GPU working with 10 I can't find anyone on the net that has been able to get it working so far.

    1. Right click on the setup file of the driver and select Properties - be sure pick install as admin when you install it.

    2 Select the compatibility tab

3.Place a check mark next to Run this program in compatibility mode ( I would use Win 8/831 as the compatibility) and select the operating system accordingly from the drop down.

4.Let the driver to install and then check out the functionality - maybe you will only get 1280x1024 max res not sure.

Folks I must say after upgrading 2 PC's, a laptop and a PC -- so far Windows 10 is very easy to use and works very well, especially in light of the fact that it's not really a finished product per-say we are doing some beta testing still. With all the programs I regularly use and games, and applications, I had one issue, and that was easily solved.

It's also nice to see a default black task bar on the main Windows theme too it looks great, although I do miss aero to some degree.

The only thing that I really do not agree with are forced updates. It would be fine if it was only the KB updates, but gamers are going to go completely nuts when (example) and AMD or NVidia driver installs in the background and the colors - settings - 3d settings are changed back to default. That's not going to work MS is going to have to change it to forced KB only not drivers. Other than that hats off to Microsoft!
