Hey guys, as some of you might know, I am currently in that lovely phase of moving from college to university. I have been struggling to find somewhere to live during term time as I cannot stay at home, but now I am spoilt for choices and thought i'd ask the opinions of the people I trust the most, you guys! :)

Okay so as you can see by the poll, there are 2 options that I am seriously considering, here's a bit about each one:

The flat: this would be shared with 2 other people. One of which I know already. I would have a pretty big room to myself. The downside is that, there is no tv/phone/internet, (we would have to sort that out ourselves), and there is no lounge, or any place to sit. The kitchen isn't really big enough for 1 person to stand in, and there is one bathroom between us.

The private room: this room is an en suite so I will have my own bathroom, it is slightly more expensive than the flat. But all bills are included with internet and tv already in place, and it has a huge kitchen, plus it's all modern and has a lounge. The down side is the fact that it is more expensive and that it is in a flat along with 5 other people, (so 6 ensuite rooms sharing the same kitchen), also that I haven't met any of them so I don't know them.

I am torn between the two as both have good and bad points. Help me decide? :) I appreciate all your views and opinions.

I don't see a poll. Hows that for an answer?

I did it both ways. Shared a place with 2 people my first 2 years and got a place of my own while I was in grad school. If I had stayed living with friends I would not have finished school. Too many other things going on to concentrate on books.

If I had to do it over again I would do it the same way. Whatever you decide it's your decision and one that you can change if it isn't the right one.

Try again barry xD I'm on my phone and I think I lost connection when posting, but there's one for me. So maybe you missed it ;) and thanks for the advice bob, I was leaning towards the private room as the first and third years tend to be the most important and I don't want to be worrying about bills and things inbetween work, but I will most probably go in a shared flat either next year or the year after.

I voted for the private room for exactly the reasons you stated Matt. While the other may work out for you, if you get the wrong people it could spell disaster for you ability to concentrate and get the job done.

Private room, it's a no brainer.... Large private space, internet already connected, computer

is a must, a place to socialize if you feel like it and a place to go when you don't. A large private

room to STUDY in. Huge kitchen, you have to eat...:D

Haha, thanks guys :) I'm being forced into making a decision by tomorrow, so I think, judging on the replies so far, it's the private room :)

I too honestly think if it's grades that are the most important consideration (and surely they are, right? :)) - go for the private room!

And if it's for peace and quiet and 'alone' time to recharge your mental batteries (which are about to take a brutal work-out :) - go for the private room!

And when you want to socialize, just wander out of that lovely sanctuary of a private room. Yup, hope you choose the private room and have a wonderful year, DirtyPolo!

    Thanks Mara :)

Just got to work out the best way to break it to my other friend that he's now on his own in a 3 bedroomed flat, with only him to pay for it all :S
