    Hello,

In previous versions of Windows if I purchase a music album in MP3 format then download the zip file containing the MP3 files I am given an option of where I save this file.

In Windows 10 this doesn't seem to happen - they just go straight to the "Downloads" folder as soon as I select "Download Zip File".

Usually, this is OK, however, I regret that I have now lost control over the destination folder as, sometimes, I might want them to go to another folder, "Music" for instance.

    Can anyone help with this.

    Thanks,
    Malcolm

    Hi Malcolm. Try this.

    1. Open Internet Explorer 10.
    2. Press CTRL + J to open View Downloads window.
    3. Click on the Options link.
    4. Click on the Browse button.
    5. Navigate to and select(highlight) the folder that you want IE10 to use as the default download location, then click on the Select Folder button.
    6. Click on OK and Close.

    Hi Malcolm.

I think that Dougie has gotten mixed up between IE10 and Win10.

I take it you are using the MS Edge browser.
Unfortunately the Edge browser is currently missing some essential settings such as the ability to change the default download location.
By default the download directory, is C:\Users\UserName\Downloads.

Until MS add the option to change the default Download location you are limited to 2 options.
    • Change the default location of the Download folder via its properties........this means you are changing the user’s download directory location.
    • Change the registry settings for the Edge download location.
Unless you are conversant with backing up and editing the registry, we don't recommend this option.

    Both options are explained here:
    http://www.thewindowsclub.com/change-default-download-location-edge

For what it's worth, the easiest way would be to either live with this location until an option is added to Edge or to use an alternative browser.

A copy of Internet Explorer will still be on Win10.
Start >> All Apps >> Windows Accessories >> Internet Explorer.

If you use IE, you can then use the information that Dougie posted to set the download location.

Apologies Malcolm. I don't use the Edge browser in Windows 10. I should have been clearer.
Thanks Starbuck for explaining in detail.:)
