I am having a little bit of trouble setting up a default e-mail for Picasa.
My e-mail, Aol AIM Mail, as one of six tabs (Computerhelpforums is one also)that I have open as soon as I open Firefox. I am using Vista so I have tried the Start-Default Programmes-Set Defaults route but in the list it shows Firefox and the usual Windows stuff but nothing to do with AOL !
Now obviously Firefox isn't the e-mail option so how do I go about this ?

Ian I am so confused by that post that I assume others are as well. I am not at all clear as to what you are trying to do and what is happening when you try.

Aol AIM Mail ???? http://products.aim.com/windows is this what you mean?

I think I see the problem.

if your using Firefox to log into Aol AIM Mail then that is not on your computer but on AOL's Servers, so you won't be able to set it as default!

However if you were to use Windows Live Mail to connect to AOL's servers and download any mail to your computer, you would then be able to set the AOL account in Windows Live Mail as the default mail account

O.K. gents, thanks for the replys, Match, yes this is the scenario, I am a lazy so and so and just like to have all my eggs (tabs) in one basket ! For some reason the AIM bit on the mail tab is not present as it was when I checked to do the 1st post ! any way its just plain AOL mail, I can't type fast enough for instant messaging :snckr: .The reason I needed the default in Picasa (picture programme) was to enable me to e-mail pictures from the programme.

I will have a look at your suggestion using the Windows Live Mail option, I have never delved in there so await the next "help" post if it all goes "belly up"

I must be pshycic  I tried to set Windows Mail up and can't find the PoP and SMTP details, looked at the help menu which told me to cotact my ISP ! not a nice option
    This was the error message
The host 'pop.aol.co.uk' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.
    Account: 'pop.aol.co.uk', Server: 'pop.aol.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D
I will have a Google to try and find how I detect the POP & SMTP stuff, I looked around the Control panel but couldn't find the settings.

Well, Googled and "mail helped" and I seem to have got it working, :D so feeling really clever, I sent an e-mail to the wifes PC as a test, she received them but when she tried to open them her PC has locked up :snckr: This is the machine with Altzheimers that I was talking about in the New Build posts the other week, the one that when I told her how much to replace, she said we need not spend the money at the moment  anyway, thats me in the doghouse till I can nurse her limping PC back into this century !

Anyway, all I have to do now is try and replace the AOL tab on Firefox with the Windows Mail and I should be back to status quo.

Just add a quick launch shortcut to your task bar.

but now you have got windows live mail working, (Pat on Back) all you need to do is set it to be the default mail program in picasa
